Educator Cafe: School Mental Health & Resilience: An Action Guide

This session offers a guided walkthrough of Project AWARE’s Youth Resiliency Toolkit: A Comprehensive School Mental Health & Resilience Action Guide. Participants will learn the structure of the toolkit, how to navigate its key components, and where to find resources that support school mental health and resilience efforts. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have a clear understanding of the toolkit and how to access and use the materials within it. Presenters Ryan Kelly and Jan Zadoorian will share their experiences in developing this tool in conjunction with the Rensselaer City School District.

Family Education: Supporting School Mental Health in 2026: A Conversation with the SMHRTCenter’s New Director

We are thrilled to welcome Donna Bradbury, LMHC as the new Director of the School Mental Health Resource & Training Center. Join our Family Education Webinar on January 29th from 7:00pm – 8:00pm for an interactive conversation with Donna about the state of school mental health in 2026. Learn more about her priorities and goals for the SMHRTCenter. Participants will be able to share their ideas in conversation with Donna. Donna brings over 30 years of experience to the SMHRTCenter. Most recently as a consultant to MHANYS, Donna previously worked as the Senior Director of the Sr. Thea Bowman Center for Women at Siena University. Prior to her role at Siena, Donna’s distinguished career in public service saw her continually advocate for children and families as Associate Commissioner at the New York State Office of Mental Health.

No-Cost Youth and Teen Mental Health First Aid Training for Schools and Community Organizations

The Mental Health Association in New York State (MHANYS) has partnered with the New York State Office of Mental Health to expand Mental Health First Aid in school communities across New York State.

Mental Health Matters Day

March 11th, 2026 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

A tradition for nearly three decades, advocates visit Albany on Mental Health Matters Day to rally support for critical investments and programs that support mental health and suicide prevention in communities across New York State. MHANYS is partnering for this event with the New York chapters of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Mental Health Matters Day is structured into three parts from 8 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. as follows: (1) Breakfast and morning policy orientation and briefing, (2) Mental Health Matters Day rally, and, (3) an opportunity to meet with their legislators in the afternoon. Registration for Schools is Open. General registration will open on January 13th.
